Pepper  -  Jovie

Picture
Jovie/Pepper is settling in nicely. She is very sweet, loves to cuddle, and is curious to follow when Neil or I walk from room to room or outside. She was timid her first day with us, which is expected, but is blossoming at a nice pace. We will continue to let her explore as much as SHE wants. I’m sure she’s still trying to figure out all this empty space surrounding us!  She looks to the left and sees nothing but a bean field. She looks to the right and sees nothing but a bean field. She looks to the north and sees nothing but a bean field & the neighbor’s backyard grass. Don’t worry, we’ll make a “country girl” out of her in due time!

Yesterday, we went to Maumee Bay State Park, about 2 miles from our home, as it was such a nice autumn day. Since no one was around we had the entire park to ourselves. She seemed to really enjoy herself there…and even waded “knee deep” in the lake. She is a bit of a bed hog, but so is the cat, so we humans are doomed not to be able to stretch out in our own bed :)

Mocha

Just wanted to let you know that Mocha is doing well in her new home with her new "sister" .  We are so happy that she is a part of our family. Thanks for all you do.

Bailey

Thank you so much for Bailey. She is so sweet and has such a good disposition; someone put a lot of love and care into her training. I love to walk and she is my best walking partner, ever. One neighbor says she's barks when I'm away, but I think she's barking at the squirrels she loves to watch. Once she's in 'her' room, she's fine.  Here she is after her grooming appt and her new orange raincoat.
We just passed our one month anniversary.
Thank you Allayne and Dog Works!

Ralph

We want to thank you for bringing Ralph into our lives. He immediately became a treasured member of our family.  He is a wonderful on a leash (most of the time) and loves to play tug-of-war.  He seems to love everyone he meets, both 2 legged and 4 legged, and is confused by smaller animals that seem intimidated by his size.  As you can see in the attached photos, he seems to be completely comfortable in his new home (except when he is left alone).  We appreciate his encouragement to improve our housekeeping habits by cleaning off all of our countertops, re-arranging our shoe racks and picking flowers and tomatoes in the garden.  Life has not been dull since Ralph moved in.  Thank you again.

Reader

Picture
Oh, I have been so busy & swamped & tired ... I quite frankly had forgotten how it is to have a new dog in the house, & with Reader's activity level, well - you can imagine!!

Right now Toby is chasing him around the dining room table & living room furniture - my goal is that they don't spill my coffee before I put an end to it ...so, you can see we are adjusting pretty well.

I can tell Reader misses playing 'keep away' with his other young friends ... so tell them all hello for us & we wish them all to find forever homes soon.

I apologize for not getting back to you ... a friend had a 42" crate for me to use - it was so kind of you to offer us the bigger one.  So far, I have not set it up & used it yet ... he has been going with us in the back of the car & doing pretty well at getting adjusted to travelling ... has chewed up a couple of things, my fault ... just being a puppy (pillows all good, floor mats in car - not so much).

At night he sleeps with us - & has been sleeping through the night after the first couple of days.  The biggest issue is all this energy ... so, I take him & let him run around in the horse pasture or arena - he wiggled through a gate one time & the miniture donkey chasing him was a sight!

He loves the backyard & all the smells - last night caught him just before he rolled in something very, very stinky ... so far has stayed in the yard without the fence collar, but will keep an eye on that as I am sure there are a couple of spots he could jump over if a deer shows up.

Well, better go get ready for work ... Reader has gotten many compliments & seems to be adjusting quite well - we are working on manners & the cats are coming around - slowly, but surely & not happy with me ... one cat I may see by Christmas - think she has decided to permanently live upsatirs.

Reader has a lovely personality & does not bark/howl much ... seems to understand the work no - he sure is a cuddlier ... biggest problem is making sure there is enoough room on the couch for both dogs ...

Thank you so much for socializing him & working with him ... I am so glad you do screening of applicants - he is a lovely dog with endless energy & curiousity & the nose of a hound ... and he has found a forever home ;)

Richy / Joey

Hi All, Wanted to give you an update on Richy who we adopted 4 weeks ago  from your organization. He has since been renamed Joey because of his kangaroo like jumping he does in the backyard playing and when it is time to eat. He has adjusted well and had very few accidents and has learned to sit and is doing fairly well with shake. He is a happy boy and has went on many adventures. We have been camping twice which he really likes the walks, campfires and golfcart rides. He is quite the ham when he cruises the campground sitting proud on the front seat of the golfcart. This past weekend he went on his first pontoon boat ride, he didn't know what to think of it at first but soon realized it was nice to have that cool breeze blowing in your face. He loves to just GO, he don't care where as long as he is with you and gets to go along. Leave your car door open and you can bet he is in the car waiting on you to start the engine. He gets along great with his new sister dog and occasionally they will take a nap together, the grandkids love him and you might find him curled up with my grandson watching vidios on the i pad. Thank you for bringing Joey into our family, he has found his forever home and we have found a forever friend. We couldn't be happier!!!!  Thanks again, Diane

Cali / Ruby

Picture
As promised I am sending you an update. We renamed her Ruby and she is an absolute doll. She is honestly the sweetest dog!  Thank you again for choosing us to be her new home. We love her very much and her and Archie are best buddies. She is the little one. :)

Thanks for all you do!
Deanne

Bella - update

We got the all clear on Bella :) Heartworm test negative and she is in perfect condition.  She went in for her shots yesterday. She's doing great and at a perfect weight! She's such a good girl!
Bella is doing very well in our family. She has a vet appointment in September to have all of her vaccines updated. She's still a little skiddish with things but has improved so much! Attached are some pictures from this year with us. We just love this sweet girl so much!
Thanks
Kelly

Lacey

August 21, 2014
As promised, here are the results of Lacey's DNA test:  50% Chow Chow and Old English Sheepdog cross with 50% Collie mix. They gave several possible breeds in the mixes crossed with the collie. The most likely were a Spanish Water Dog or a Borzoi.  The chow/collie combination is most apparent in her appearance.

Lacey has decided that the guest room is now her room. See the picture of her sprawled across the bed in the early morning.  The other picture is her on one of her long walks.  She has been to the vet again and gotten an almost clean bill of health except for some hip arthritis. The walks, staying thin, and eating Omega fatty acids are prescribed for the hips.

She is a great companion and we are so happy to have her with us.

Linda K
Hello from the Kurtz Family:
Lacey has been with us for five weeks now and she is adjusting well to having three floors with places to sleep, four walks a day, and different food than she is used to.  At first she followed her new mom around the house and watched every move she made. Now, she is more comfortable finding and quiet place to sleep on her own. She loves her walks and lets us know when it's time for the next one. She is enchanted by every form of wildlife, but has only been able to catch voles -- three so far. She is good about not eating them when I shriek "Leave it!" She especially likes to walk with her Golden Retriever friend Simcha shown in the photo of her first walk.. She learned that visiting her new dad produced a delicious True Chew treat. After a while, she made so many visits, the treats had to be limited to four a day.  She is so pretty that people stop and ask what she is every day.  We say we don't know and we are waiting for a report on her DNA.  We will send that news when we get it.
Love and thanks for Lacey,
 Linda and Ernie

Gus -Rocko

Picture
Here is Gus who came to us from you in April. As you can see he is struggling to feel at home and relax with us (not!)
He is a wonderful, wonderful dog who brings us joy every day. Thank you for saving him for us.

Carlos

Picture
I wanted to give you an update on Carlos. Since we adopted him a few months ago he has become a huge part of our family. We couldn’t imagine a life without him. Even our cat has grown accustomed to having him around and isn’t scared of him anymore.
The most amazing thing about Carlos is how he has bonded with his new family.  He watches for us to come home from work and almost always meets us at the back door as we come inside.  He has also begun to hop up on our bed with me and will lay next to me or with his head in my lap while I read. He loves to play outside with my husband and will race around our back yard before coming to an abrupt stop and rolling onto his back to have his belly rubbed.
Thank you for taking care of this sweet boy as well as you did. We can never say thank you enough for letting us bring him into our life and allowing us to make him a part of our family.
Lynnette and John

Koko

Koko is doing great! Our family feels so blessed to have him!  He loves his walks, the back yard, the kids and neighborhood friends.

Hello to the people who gave us out newest family member!

Teddy is doing wonderful and is turning out the be the best dog. We are all in love with him and he is the happiest guy!

Thank you for the gift of Teddy!

Lydia is doing great.......she's receiving in-home obedience training and doing very well. She's a very smart girl! She also went to her first "play time" today at the boarding facility we use. Her brother Emmet went with her for moral support. They indicated that she did very well and enjoyed herself! I'm glad you found her and we were able to adopt her! She's been awesome!

Picture
We adopted Liberty almost a year now , she has been the perfect fit for our family. She has brought many smiles for us. She has been to the Smoky Mountains and also too Myrtle Beach for a vacation as well. She hardly every leaves my side, a great companion and everything you could want.

Hope to maybe see you at a location sometime soon, thanks for all your efforts in what you do for the animals. Included is one of many photos, we have of her. My favorite.

Regards,
Gm Dughi

Katie in her new home.  Her foster home just fell in love with this girl and thay have decided to adopt her.  Here is 2yr old Crosby sleeping with Katie.

Max

Picture
Max is doing great!! We all love him to death and he freely returns our love. He has learned what we expect of him and he is very eager to please us. He does great with our other, older dog, and looks up to him like an older brother. They definitely play like brothers!!

Max is the sweetest, most loyal dog in the world!! Whenever I get home (and this is something he saves special for me) he gives me a hug!! He puts his paws on my shoulders and will nuzzle and kiss my face. I love it. And whenever we return from church, he always whines and rolls on the floor and occasionally has an accident, but we don’t mind. Just means he got very excited!!

Max also does great with our cat, though they tend to antagonize each other like siblings. We always get a kick out of that. One thing we noticed about Max is that he loves towels and wash cloths, especially if they’ve had soap on them. He was stealing them from the bathroom so we found an old towel that is now HIS towel. He sleeps with it all the time on his bed we bought for him. Another funny thing he does is play with his chew bones!! Sometimes he growls and barks playfully at them before sneaking an attack. We find this very comical.

Our loyal hound dog has been doing great without a crate, as long as we remember to pick up our trash can. He has a habit of dumpster diving if anything smells delectable. :) We’re slowly working on that one.

Max has earned many nicknames since his arrival. Maxwell, Maximus, Maxers, Maxie, and Maxim are just a few. If it starts with “Max” it’s his new nickname.

Thank you so much for our Max :) We are so grateful to have him in our lives. There’s never a dull moment!! He seems very happy here and that makes us happy too. :)

Sincerely,

Cassandra and family (and Max and gang too!!)

Bella (Paula)

Bella had a great first night. She slept in her dog bed all night. She is loving her brother Moose :) Moose is teaching her the routines.

Rocky (Clancy)

It was nice to see you at the dog adoption event today. We have attached some pictures of Rocky. Thank you for rescuing him. He is a wonderful dog.

Jade

Picture
My family and I recently adopted Jade. I just wanted to let you know that she is a great dog and we couldn't be happier to have her in our home. She is adjusting to our cat very nicely and has found real happiness here with us.  Jade is such a playful and living girl. Thank you for doing what you do for these animals because without you we would not have found Miss Jade.
Thank you again.

Sami

This is Sami. I adopted her from you about two years ago. She is a joy. We walk about 2 miles every day. She loves to go to day care once or twice a week to get her running in. I so glad I found her.
